06/01/2022 EAST BAY DRAGONS FLOWER AND CSA BOX

6/1/2022 box includes:

  1. Chinese Sprouting Cauliflower: Sweet and the stems cook up bright green. This is a sprouting variety coveted by many chefs!

  2. Napa Cabbage: Used in so many ways: stirfry, soups, kimchi, dumplings, lion head meatballs, fermenting and even saurkraut!

  3. Cilantro: My favorite over Chinese Chicken Noodle Soup - my mother's go to remedy to cure all sickness in the house.

  4. Japanese Daikon or Korean White or Bora Mu with Radish Tops: Our CSA member and Taiwanese book author Hui-Min Tsai wrote a lovely post about radish tops. Don't forget they are a delicious edible too! Pickle them or use as soup green. Two veggies in 1! Check out her post.

  5. Farmer's Choice: Strawberries -OR- Chinese Suyo or Japanese Cucumbers or Korean cucumbers. These young Korean cucumbers will transform into nogak, or old cucumber, in late summer.

  6. Zucchini (Green or Yellow)

  7. White Baby Stem Bok Choy: Small baby bok choys tender and sweet! These are amazing - don't let them go to waste!

  8. Taiwanese Bok Choy: Xiao Bai Cai. The quintessential stir-fry green found in Taiwan as a side dish with garlic and in beef noodle soup! This is another variety than what we usually grow. Can also be used as a romaine lettuce! Let us know your thoughts!

  9. Kohlrabi: Tops are edible. Peel the root. Use as a slaw, quick pickle or eat raw!

  10. Little Gem Lettuce: Juicy and crunchy, perfect for ssam wraps

  11. Basil: Thai, Sweet, Purple, or Holy: Basil takes the most time to harvest, and has a somewhat short shelf life. Every season we debate whether it's worth growing, but its such a prized season long plant and a wonderful companion for our tomatoes.

  12. Chinese Celery: We love this in our tuna salad sandwiches, chop up the leaves and stems small if you eat raw. We also use this in our eggroll recipe and it completely changes the flavor profile!

Please break down and save your boxes. We reuse the boxes and pick them back up the following week!
