05/18/2022 EAST BAY DRAGONS CSA BOX
5/18/2022 box includes:
Celtuce and A-Tsai: Our sword lettuce is slowly forming thick stems. We harvested young celtuce with shorter stems for you to enjoy this week. Peel the skin of the stems and stir-fry. I love the nutty earthy taste!
Farmers Choice: Strawberries or Zucchini
Basil: Thai or Italian: Make 3-cup chicken or pesto!
Japanese Salad Hakurei Turnips: Juicy and sweet enough to eat raw! We enjoy roasting them in butter on a griddle! Greens should be used as well and taste similar to mustard!
Japanese Daikon or Korean Mu with Tops: Young and tender radish thinnings to make soup with both the root and the top. Pickle or ferment. Or slice thin and toss in a salad!
White Stem Bok Choy or Shanghai Bok Choy: These cabbages are huge with tender stems.
Green Frill Mustard: Spicy and Pungent. Add mustard greens to meat dishes or salads.
Dill: We love making baked salmon with dill!
Kohlrabi: Tops are nice and tender and can be eaten. Peel the root. You can eat kohlrabi raw in slices with salt. Traditional to Germany, my Oma would sautée slices in white roux sauce served over boiled yellow potatoes. Can be pickled, fermented, or turned into a kohlrabi coleslaw!
Please break down and save your boxes. We reuse the boxes and pick them back up the following week!
